Mission

Supporting the obesity medicine physician workforce so patients with obesity in every community have access to treatment.

Create opportunities to increase access to care for patients with obesity, and support endeavors that expand and improve the field of obesity medicine.

Current Call for Proposals

The American Board of Obesity Medicine Foundation announces the availability of grant funding to support obesity-related research.

Purpose of Funding:  To fulfill the above mission and purpose of the ABOM Foundation. We are particularly interested in approaches to overcoming barriers to practicing obesity medicine and outcomes related to care provided by diplomates of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

Letter of Intent Deadline: July 1, 2021–CLOSED! 

Review/Notification Date: August 2021

Full Proposal Deadline: October 1, 2021

Amount: Up to $100,000 over two years (maximum of $50,000 in the first year, with the option for a second year of funding based on demonstrated progress and availability of funds), to be distributed according to proposal timeline and schedule of deliverables. Proposals will be considered based on quality of research plan and justification of the budget. Funds may be used for project associated costs and/or to offset time/salary required to conduct research. Funds may not be used for travel. Any indirect costs must be included in the total budget request at a maximum of 10% of the total budget.

Ideal Applicant: Proven track record of conducting research. Record of peer-reviewed research publications. Fellows and Early Career Faculty may apply. Proposals for industry-led projects will not be considered.
