Description: The Obesity Society’s Clinical Management and Early Career Member Committees have partnered to offer this free webinar. Adding obesity medicine to an existing practice can be challenging. Panelists from academia, HMO, and private practice, will share their experiences and advice.

Webinar Faculty:

ABOM Diplomate Dr.Angela Fitch, MD is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Board-certified in pediatrics, internal medicine and obesity medicine, she is the VP of UC Health Primary Care. She serves as Director of Medical Weight Management at the UC Health Weight Loss Center, and is also the Medical Director of the Executive Health Program (EHP). Her current medical focus is weight loss medicine.

ABOM Diplomate Dr. Wendy Scinta, MD is a nationally recognized expert on adult and childhood obesity treatment, and current president-elect of the Obesity Medicine Association. She is Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at SUNY Upstate, Diplomat of the American Board of Family Physicians and the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

ABOM Diplomate Dr. Sean Hashmi, MD, MS, FASN is the Assistant Area Medical Director at Kaiser Permanente, Woodland Hills in California. He is also the Southern California regional lead for Adult Weight Management. Currently, Dr. Hashmi serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Clinical Management of Obesity Section of The Obesity Society.

The Potential Role of Sleep in Obesity Prevention and Management: A Virtual Workshop
Friday, February 17, 12-2 PM ET

Description: A relatively new development in research on the causes, prevention, and treatment of obesity is the increasing evidence and discussion about the potential relationship between sleep and obesity, as well as a strong interest on the part of the public health community in examining the evidence and its potential implications. The webinar will feature individual invited speakers and presentations that will explore the current understanding of sleep physiology and sleep disorders, existing experimental and epidemiological evidence about sleep and obesity risk, and the current recommendations for sleep as they relate to the prevention and management of obesity in children and adults.

Webinar Faculty:

ABOM Diplomate Dr. Scott Kahan (moderator) is the Director of the National Center for Weight and Wellness and the medical director of the Strategies to Overcome and Prevent (STOP) Obesity Alliance. He is a physician trained in both clinical medicine and public health. He serves on the faculties of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the George Washington University School of Medicine, and the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services.
