QUARTERLY CHAIRMAN’S LETTER
focuses on highlighting your certification
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Richard Lindquist to the board of directors of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Lindquist, based in Seattle, WA, joined the board early in 2017. In an effort to represent the broad base of ABOM diplomates, the board is made up of physicians with many different backgrounds and interests. The board includes physicians practicing in academic settings, private practice, and surgical centers. Board terms are three years and we are grateful to have a group of physicians dedicated to the advancement of the field of obesity medicine.
While board members have a direct hand in setting the goals for ABOM, all diplomates have an opportunity to engage in activities that move obesity medicine forward. You will note in the In the News section of the newsletter that many diplomates are regularly featured in stories related to obesity online, in print and on television. We would like to encourage all diplomates who have this opportunity to include your ABOM status as an important part of your credentials. Every time an obesity expert is identified publicly as a diplomate of ABOM, it helps increase awareness of the field in general.
In addition, please take a moment to visit the ABOM web page that is dedicated to highlighting your certification. The page features a diplomate badge that can be used on your website and in marketing materials, along with other documents that can help you communicate about the value of the ABOM and your certification.
Sincerely,
